Rock and Roll

Four months of training, early morning Saturday runs, sore legs and feet...... and all I get is this shirt?
So, I guess May is not a great month for marathons for the Rileys. First Matt's L.A. Marathon problems and now this. I seriously was contemplating how I would feel after running a marathon on a half hour of sleep. I almost talked myself into it. But in the end, I know I made the right decision. Garrett needed my help and I couldn't risk getting myself sick for the rest of the week for one run!

Now it's all uphill from here, literally. Starting this week a lot of my exercise will include walking uphill on the treadmill or walking stairs in order to get ready for the next goal on my list. No time to sit and pout about missing this marathon. We are set to climb Mt. Whitney on August 4th!

Kevin's class has been learning all about dinosaurs and is going to put on quite a display for open house. This past week he worked hard on putting together a diorama. He's been teaching me all I need to know about dinosaurs! If you want to see more pictures go to Kevin's blog!

Fun Weekend

Thanks to Susan and Dennis I have some pictures from the weekend. The boys have been having fun playing t-ball and swimming. This is the first year we've used the pool so early. Even I went in on Saturday because it got too hot to just sit and watch.

Of course we are all hoping it will cool down for Memorial Day so that we can watch Matt run his first marathon!!

It's Still On

A few weeks ago I did my 20 mile run, still preparing for the San Diego Marathon. During and after my run my ankle was hurting.....enough to make me go see the doctor. Long story short, I finally had an MRI yesterday, got the results today and the doctor said it showed nothing wrong. So I guess I'm ok! I took it easy last week, making myself find other ways to work out. Sunday I did a 4 mile run and I did another one today. I'm feeling pretty good, I'll press on!

25 more days before my 2nd marathon!!

One Man's Trash....

Yesterday we had a huge garage sale for our 3-day walk team. It was a huge success, raising over $2000 dollars! We had so many donations from friends all over town, it was amazing how much stuff there was. The team started setting it up on Friday and I joined them after work. I could not believe what was already there by the time I got off of work. We had a little scare as it started to rain, but we quickly brought some things in the garage and covered the rest with tarps. Thankfully the rain stopped for the rest of the night and yesterday turned out to be perfect garage sale weather.

The team is now up to 7 people. I am so happy to have joined with these women because the more I get to know them, the more amazing they become. We are planning more fundraisers throughout the summer. At the end of the fundraisers we plan on dividing up the money depending on who needs more to make their goal of $2300 for the walk. So far I'm at $1200, which I think is great considering I haven't even sent out my main donation letters. (you may be getting one soon in the mail :)
And remember, if you want to donate online, it's the easiest way!
