So here's the run down:
Monday - 6.0
Tues. - 5.5
Wed. - 0
Thurs. 7.0
Fri.- 2.7
Sat. - 10.5
Sun. - 0
Total for the week: 31.7
I have signed up for my second race for this coming Saturday, which is a 5k (3.1 miles) followed by a 10k (6.2 miles). The 10k has hills so I may have gotten myself into more than I wanted, but I will just take it slow and see if I make it to the finish. I hope to make it back in time to see Kevin's game, but we'll see how long it takes to get to the end.
I have been pushing myself a little harder than usual lately because there is a marathon in San Diego on June 1st and I have been thinking in the back of my mind that maybe I could do it ......and then take a little break before going to Yosemite. I still want to, but am conflicted because Kevin's last game is the day before and with a team party right after that. There is no way I am heading down there for my first marathon by myself. So, I may just keep trudging away and keep that November date on the schedule. My body is wanting to slow down a little, so I may need to listen.

Good for you in getting all your miles in this week. I was so impressed to see you run home from Kevin's first game. Maybe you should have had some of the team donuts (the ones with the sprinkles make you run especially fast :-)
I walked 3 days this last week and did yoga on one day. Having to report this makes me much more aware of needing to consistently exercise. Thanks for the encouragement.
Your mom is so much fun. I love her silliness and how she makes the boys laugh. I bet they were sorry to see her go (and you too).
Love ya,
Denise
I can sympathize with your run this Sat. and the hills. Dennis and I just returned home from a week in Catalina. We had a wonderful time and did some great and challenging hikes while we were there.
Tuesday when we arrived in Avalon we did a "flat" 2 mile walk. Then on Wed. we hiked up to the Wrigley Mansion which sits high on the hill in Avalon. Thankfully it was cool and the steep hill was a bit tough for me as I don't walk hills like Dennis does AND I don't like hills. But it was a good work out. Thurs. we walked 4.5 miles to the Wrigley Gardens (always nice to have something pretty to see at the end of a new walk. Friday we rented mountain bikes and rode for 2 hours. Sat...................the killer hike of all time for me. We hiked to a place called Balist Point. It is without a doubt one of the hardest hikes I have ever done. It is a 900 foot climb from the town of Two Harbors (opposite end from Avalon)AND 90% of it is straight up. I cannot tell you how many times I wanted to call it quits but I wasn't about to give up. Particularly since Dennis, his brother and nephews did the hike awhile ago. So I pressed on but it was tough!! When we reached the point it was beautiful (pictures coming soon on Serenity Now blog)and worth it, I think. I mentioned that I was really taking in the beautiful views on top as I wasn't going to do that hike ever again. However after a wonderful long downhill hike to town I did find myself thinking that I "might" do it again. Sunday we enjoyed a flat 4 mile hike in a beautiful valley on the island. Needless to say last week was a very good work out week for me. However this week I have only walked once. I am hoping to get another good week in. Thanks for keeping me on track Tasha with this weekly update. I must say you are farrrrrrrrrrrrrr ahead of me, for sure. It sounds like the San Diego marathon might be pushing it what with your very busy schedule. Is that the Rock and Roll Marathon??? You have quite a good running schedule going now so don't push yourself to hard. Half Dome in June sounds challenging enough.
Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get it all in before I forgot.
Love to all, Susan
P.S Kevin is AMAZING with his writing and spelling. I can't believe he is blogging and doing so well at such a young age. WOW!!
