The Dreaded Play Room

When we moved into our house we had this idea that instead of using our dining room as an actual dining room, we would turn it into a "play room".  That way the kids could have all their toys in one room and they would play in there and the rest of the house would stay somewhat clean.  This is the way I imagined it to be.  In reality the play room has in fact become the room where the boys go to when they want a specific toy, they find the toy, and then they go into another part of the house to play with it.  So Garrett and I have decided that we really need to turn our dining room into what it was meant to be used for.  BUT this means we need to find a new place for all of the toys.  What REALLY needs to be done is that we need to get rid of about half of the toys. They just keep getting more and we don't seem to be getting rid of the old.... probably because I am a Trettin!  Anyway, I thought today would be a good day to start because I have the house to myself and I absolutely know that half of those toys would not be missed.  ****And please note, the play room does not always look like it does in the picture.  The boys usually have to clean it up.  Last night I let it slide because I figured it would be easier to go through it if it was already everywhere!

Mom says....
Yes, you are a Trettin! I'll have you know though, at this very minute your Dad is out in the biggest shed, sorting through his treasures. Because the roofers have a dumpster here, and Dad has permission to add to their collection with his own trash, he's taking the opportunity to sift through all the mildewed and rat-infested junk that has been out there since we moved in here 13 yrs. ago.
So, perhaps the moon is in just the right phase to allow the Trettin in all of us to cleanse.... you go girl!

Good luck on the sorting of the toy's today Tasha. It is so funny that you mention that the boy's merely go into the play room to get thing's to take to other part's of the house. That's great that you are going to make it your dining room now. Enjoying reading your other posts as well. How is the diet going???? I am sure you are doing great with it. Love to all

That is exactly what our playroom looks like! It was great in the old house in Washington because the playroom was upstairs with a TV. Now, in the new house, the playroom is RIGHT NEXT to the family room, so everything spills out......DRIVES ME NUTS!
