If you have been checking the news this morning there has been breaking news about a pile up of 12 big rigs that have crashed inside a tunnel in L.A. County. This has happened literally about 5 miles from our house. Garrett saw the beginnings of it on his way home from the Genesis Concert last night. They have shut down the 5 freeway both directions, which means we are stuck here for the rest of today, maybe tomorrow. Well, we could drive up north I guess. Anyway, this means we have to miss Grandma Dee's sock hop tonight :( It may also mean we have to cancel our birthday party that we were planning for tomorrow if the freeway is still shut down. Let's just pray that men and women working on putting out the fire all stay safe and they get it under control as quickly as they can.

Wow, what a day yesterday was what with the horrible accident. And amazing that Garrett was on the other side of 5 a few minutes after it happened!!
We are so sad that your and Garretts' birthday celebration had to be cancelled today in light of closure and detour on 5. We were so looking forwad to it. I had already paid for the quarter sheet black forest cake for you and Garrett so I am going to freeze it and hopefully we can celebrate you big days soon. Otherwise I will bring it up when Namie and I visit in a week or so. Missed you all at the sock hop party for Denises' birthday last night. Just we gal's headed to the dance floor (surprise, surprise). We had a good time but again the 4 of you were greatly missed. Love, Susan
P.S. Sorry about your garage sale. I was hoping that the rain cleared so you would have alot of people come by. But at least you were able to get rid of a few of the bigger item's.
