In Training

I've been thinking about this for awhile, and since I just had my birthday I thought it would be a great time to go for it.  I've decided that by this time next year I will be able to run the Santa Clarita Marathon.  They have it every November.  So, starting today, I am officially in training for 2008.  I know that giving myself a year is plenty of time to prepare, but it's also plenty of time to decide to just forget about it.  That's where you all come in....you are my accountability partners.  I want you to check in with me to see how I am doing.  I am not planning on being fast, my short legs just don't take me very fast, but just finishing will be a great accomplishment for me.  A friend of mine has run 3 marathons and I am planning on getting training tips from her and hopefully once I have worked my way up a little I can start running with her.   For now, I just will stick with our trusty dog, Dodger.  So don't forget to check in every so often and see how it's going.

I think about training for a marathon all the time. Hopefully, someday I'll make the time for it.
Good for you, I know you can do it!!

Great for you, Tasha! What a fine goal. I remember training for only a half-marathon when I was your age. It was a lot of hard work but so rewarding. I trained with 2 of my girlfriends and we had the best time training on the strand at the beach. It was before I married and Tom Selleck was on t.v. on my favorite t.v. show. I would pretend that I was running to catch up with him. It kept me going for hours. I just loved the whole experience. My girlfriends and I got matching running outfits. But, we all finished at different times. My boss was a fabulous marathoner and kept me going all the way. It helps to have an encourager or guardian angel. I am anxious to hear your progress and about the growth you will experience. There are so many Bible verses that you can pray. I used the concordance alot and it became very spiritual.

Yippee for you,
Denise
